A Eulogy for Warped Tour

Warped Tour, the travelling rock festival that’s been bringing rock music to fans across the United States and beyond since 1995, is holding its final cross-country run this summer. Over its 24-year history, the tour has featured massive rock bands like Blink-182, Fall Out Boy and Paramore, as well as more unexpected acts like Katy […]

‘I just can’t wait for the next year of my life’: An Interview With Emma Blackery

Five EPs, two headline tours and one tour supporting Busted later, Basildon-born rising pop act Emma Blackery has been catapulted into international fame over the past year, and has recently released her first track of 2018, ‘Dirt’, which has already racked up nearly 400,000 views on YouTube since its release and has been met with […]

Album Review: Fickle Friends – You Are Someone Else

Among the cache of rising young artists bringing wistful indie pop out of the 1980s and into the late 2010s (Shura, MUNA, and more) stand Brighton quintet Fickle Friends. After two years touring without a label, 2018 has now seen the release of the group’s highly anticipated debut record, You Are Someone Else. Having accumulated […]

Exeposé Music’s Best Albums of 2017: #20-11

20. Marika Hackman       I’m Not Your Man Bold, sharp, and cuttingly honest, second album I’m Not Your Man sees Hackman move away from the outwardly folkier sounds of We Slept At Last and towards something truly her own. Whilst backing instrumentals provided by The Big Moon provide the backbone of I’m Not Your Man, it is […]

Live Review: VANT @ Exeter Cavern

Four was the magic number for the bands playing Cavern last Saturday night, as both support acts in addition to VANT were four-piece groups. The first band onstage was a local(ish) band from Truro, Hypophora, who, with their blend of punk and grunge rock influences, and their red-haired female lead, reminded me a bit of […]

Hello Hello: An Interview with Fickle Friends

For Fickle Friends, the alternative pop band with an 80s edge, 2017 has been a packed year, from touring with The Kooks to performing at major festivals, to recording their debut studio album. Their imaginative, happy-go-lucky, synth pop sound has enraptured fans worldwide and ahead of starting their UK tour in October, the lead singer […]

Ghostbusters, Paris and Punk: An Interview with Wolf Alice’s Theo Ellis

Despite only releasing their debut single in 2013, Wolf Alice are excitingly counting down the days until their second album, Visions of a Life, is released for all the world to hear. With their 2015 debut, My Love is Cool, making the ‘Best Albums of the Year’ lists in The Guardian, NME, Q and Rough […]

Album Review: Paramore – After Laughter

With the lead single of Paramore’s fifth LP revealed less than a month before the album’s release, there has been arguably little in the way of After Laughter’s promotion compared to other albums. Perhaps this calmer approach is mirrored in the album’s title, which suggests a more honest, emotive and potentially vulnerable piece in contrast […]

Album Review: The Big Moon – Love in the 4th Dimension

Everyone had that phase in their teenage years where they decided they were cool, moody and wanted to be Avril Lavigne or Green Day with the black eyeliner and heavy fringes. Although The Big Moon aren’t perhaps quite heavy fringe people (as that definitely is not ‘cool’ anymore), they are undoubtedly one of those bands […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
