Album Review: Anderson .Paak – Ventura

A true return to form for Breezy Lovejoy Anderson .Paak and his boys. ‘Yes LAWD!’. I have been a die-hard Paak fanboy since Malibu and was enamoured with the electric chemistry between Paak and The Free Nationals, the gospel influences, the bells and chimes, the syrupy basslines and Anderson’s untouchable talent. I went into Oxnard with high […]

Songs with Soul – Channel Orange

The lyrical genius that is Frank Ocean has never been one to shy away from confronting world issues. In his debut studio album, Channel Orange from 2012, which features an amalgamation of soul, hip hop and R&B, Ocean provides the listeners with the painful processes that are attached to drug taking; what it is like to […]

An Interview with Desi Valentine

It’s 10pm on a drizzly Friday in the heart of Devon, but for Desi Valentine “It’s another beautiful day in LA”. So much so, that later on in our interview, he’d be placing his phone in the freezer after it overheats in the beaming 3pm sun. From the outset, Desi’s optimistic and good-natured zest shines […]

Exeposé Music’s Top Albums of 2018: 25-20

25 Joy as an Act of REsistance by idles Joy as an Act of Resistance beats with a pulse that proves punk isn’t dead. IDLES stack their sophomore album with humour, honesty and angry bangers. Their post-punk sound is so smart it’s as woke and witty as Kanye West thinks he is. Lead singer Joe Talbot […]

Album Review: Leon Bridges – Good Thing

Leon Bridges debut in 2015 was like a nostalgic breath of fresh air, strongly reminiscent of 60s soul men like Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke, a man who Bridges clearly resembles. The vocals were a melodic triumph on songs such as title track “Coming Home” as well a “Smooth Sailin’” and “River”. Bridges can currently […]

EP Review: Charlotte Day Wilson – Stone Woman

Sniff all you like about the public taste; the Top 40 doesn’t lie. Last year, Ed Sheeran toddled away with the Christmas No.1 with a stately ballad. Dance DJs have swapped pounding breakbeats for relaxed vibes, and Drake’s newest global smash, currently standing at a colossal 358,000,000 streams, potters along at a sleepwalking 77 bpm. […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
