Five (Not-So-Groundbreaking) Tips to Get You Through Exams

Forewarning: none of this is groundbreaking; most of this you will have heard before, but in these “times of trouble”, let me be your “Mother Mary”, and speak some “words of wisdom”. 1. Start revising early: Both within the time leading up to exams and, more specifically, within each day you have to revise. This […]

Dealing with deadlines

The nights are drawing in, and finding a space in the Forum Library is about as likely as getting through a day without coffee: it’s deadline season. After all the fun of rest term with Halloween and Bonfire Night, only a couple of essays sit between you and the week-long buffet that is Christmas. Whilst the […]

Staying safe in a student city

Whether you’re a fresher or in final year, a new year in Exeter always provides an excuse to celebrate. But surrounding all the fun and booze you’re bound to have, the issue, whilst on socials or with friends, is safety. T he leaves are a-changing. Autumn is upon us, and when the seasons shift, a few updates to your wardrobe are sure to follow. Thankfully, for those of us who don’t have the money to spend on a full new fall wardrobe, autumn 2016 is maybe the easiest season we’ve ever had to look fabulous […]

Your Exeter Freshers Survival Checklist

It starts simply: you thought you were so prepared when your mum drove you to IKEA after results day, piling Vargardens and Senuells (plates and pans for those who don’t speak IKEA) into your trolley. But after a quick google search for ‘Freshers Uni Checklists’, here you are, an anxious victim of the ever-growing lists […]

Student Saviour vs. Student Sabotage: Miscellaneous

Student Saviour: Backpacks This week’s student saviour is the humble backpack. This is the perfect practical alternative for all those who are tired of the bland leather designer; or, if you are like me, mock designer handbags that force girls with a bag full of uni work to contort their bodies sideways just so they […]

Student saviour vs. Student sabotage

Spring Student Saviour: Victorian inspired fashion It seems like the fashion industry is running out of eras because it’s going back over a hundred years for this trend. Nonetheless, I love it. For a start, vintage is always cool and Victorian is vintage to the extreme. Plus, there’s an added bonus if you’re a history student […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
