Exeter’s Top Study Spaces

Has staring at the same library walls for hours upon end left you feeling unmotivated, disillusioned and frankly, a little bit dead inside? It may be time to say goodbye to Forum Marketplace and venture out into the great unknown, as one of these lesser known study spaces may be able to evoke the inspiration […]

Overheard in the Library – June edition

“I could do a hundred squats, but I’d get a pain in my spleen.” “I don’t think she’s really all that into drugs.” “No-one’s gonna come to my wedding…” “Short-term pain relief is the bomb.” “That’s the highest I’ve ever seen him.” “Yeah, he did it in a text.” “Do you ever, like, vomit straight […]

Should freshers revise in the library? (against)

We all know campus gets busy, particularly during exams. Well, those of us who’ve been through exams at least once know. First years don’t. Perhaps this explains why they, yearly, descend upon campus for their oh-so-vital exams like fire ants. The library is hot, it’s crowded, and someone might die. Some freshers show up purely […]

Should freshers revise in the library? (for)

As we roll into the exam season, the inevitable debate arises over whether first years really need access to the library as other, older panicked students dash past the barriers from 8am on peak days to nab a hotly contested seat or box in the silent study area. It might come as a shock to […]

A reflection on core texts

What could I buy with £9,250? I couldn’t buy a car, but considering my lack of a license and the small insignificant detail of having failed my test four times, I’m okay with that. I couldn’t buy a house, but who the heck can nowadays? But I could buy my course books, El Balneario and La […]

Finding a study space on campus

It’s deadline season, and you’ve finally accepted that the fateful promise of ‘I’ll just work at home’ is a vicious lie. When your house is freezing and probably growing spores, the return to your bed is inevitable. So, the only option that remains is to battle the masses on campus for that coveted study space. […]

Exe-am Fashion

Fashionistas of Exeter rejoice; exam season is upon us, and this year’s trends promise to be big. Literally. Think dark bags under the eyes, expanding waistlines (eating your feelings? You know you want to…), oversized hoodies, 473ml cans of Red Bull and bags so full of unread books that they could burst at the seams […]

St. Luke’s missing out on library funds

The distribution of library funding between the two Exeter campuses is substantially unequal, according to a recent Freedom of Information request. The investigation looked into both the physical and electronic availability of library resources. A request submitted by Exeposé found that the library at St. Luke’s received 89 per cent less funding than the Streatham […]

Alternative Revision Spots

Last year, I wrote my entire Undergraduate dissertation while sat at the exact same table in the Forum library. While it was a solid routine, it could be disheartening to be stuck in the same spot, especially when the sun was shining. However, campus buildings definitely aren’t for everyone; while I benefited from boring white […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
