Live Review: dodie @ O2, Bristol

On Wednesday 13 March, dodie kicked off the UK leg of the North American and European tour for ‘Human’, her most recent EP. The singer-songwriter started her YouTube channel at the age of 16 and now, at just 23, has achieved global recognition with over 250 million views on her main channel, as well as […]

An Interview with KAWALA

Just a couple of hours before the start of their UK tour supporting dodie on 13 March, I sat down to have a quick chat with KAWALA, an up-and-coming indie-pop band. Led by Jim Higson and Dan McCarthy, a duo that hails from North London, KAWALA’s newest releases are upbeat, summery, and will undoubtedly put […]

Januhairy – this isn’t going to cut it

Januhairy – this isn’t going to cut it As January drew to a close, so too did the aptly named ‘Januhairy’: a campaign created by Exeter student Laura Jackson that has garnered international media attention as women pledged to stop removing their body hair for the month of January. The intention of the campaign was […]

Post-uni Panic

It’s the end of February, and graduation is looming on the oddly sunny horizon. Allow me some dramatics; when you’ve been at uni for two-and-a-bit years and feel like you’ve found your place, your friends, and yourself (to a certain extent) here, the prospect of leaving is not a fun one. For me, it’s mainly […]

A fresh face in politics

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a name that now pops up more and more in news stories about US politics. As the youngest woman to ever be elected to Congress, Ocasio-Cortez is clearly revolutionising not only the state of American politics, but also the way in which politicians interact with the public through social media. Gone are […]

Diversity In The Beauty Industry

Here’s the thing: I love makeup. It’s fun to put on, fun to experiment with, fun to buy with money you probably shouldn’t be spending – and yet, the entire reason for the existence of the beauty industry is essentially to make women feel bad about the way they look. As if that wasn’t bad enough, […]

“RAG does Take Me Out” Reviewed

IF you’ve never seen Take Me Out, let me preface this by summarising the show; this pinnacle of television sees single guys paired up with single girls, the haunting repetition of the phrase ‘no lighty no likey’, and, of course, the ever-charismatic Paddy McGuinness. Place this already thrilling concept in the context of the Lemmy, […]
