Sustainability as a Student

Trying to shop ethically on a student budget isn’t the easiest thing in the world, and some sustainable influencers would have people believe that sustainability is an all or nothing game. However, there are plenty of small, affordable ways to follow a more ethical lifestyle that can fit into a student budget without going entirely […]

Professional Controversy

From my first year of college to my second year of university, I have experimented with my hair, going pretty much every colour of the rainbow. I loved being able to express myself in this way, but I was always acutely aware of the fact that there was a time limit on how long I […]

Trends I Hate – Lime Green

Impracticality – 1/5 Unsightliness – 4/5 Suitablility – 2/5 Look, I love a bright neon shade as much as the next girl, but I much prefer it when that neon shade is not assaulting my eyes with how bright it is. Neon green is apparently this season’s go-to shade, and I am not here for […]

Trends I Hate – Super Chunky Trainers

Impracticality – 3/5 Unsightliness – 4/5 Suitablility – 1/5 Look, I’m girl who likes heels. A boost to their height is always welcome, and I’m not much of a stiletto girl either – show me a chunky platform heel and I will show you a shoe I am in love with. However, with fashion, as […]

Trends I Hate – Low Rise Jeans

I was having a lovely winter break. Seeing my family, friends, feeling very festive and very much in the spirit of good will to all. I even wondered how on earth I’d come up with a trend to hate, considering my glowy outlook on the world at the moment. Then, what should I find whilst […]

Come outside!

Nature appreciation moment. I spent my summer screaming at every sunset, golden hour and beautiful views I experienced in West Virginia. I was lucky enough to spend 2 months sleeping in tents and running around barefoot at a summer camp in America. Waking up to the sun rising over the fog covered mountains (sounds poetic, […]

Hungover Seminar Hacks

As I sit here, a weary and wrinkled soon-to-be third year student, it’s apt that I impart some of my top tips for making that 8:30 seminar and concealing the fact that you’re majorly hanging out of your arse. Fortunately for you, this is an area in which I am a certified pro. Having […]

Why is Rome as Iconic as Ever?

The ‘Eternal City’ draws in tourists from across the globe by combining its epic history with the bustle of modern city life. Rome is one of those travel destinations – everyone seems to know someone who’s jetted off to the Italian capital, don’t they? But, Rome is more than a destination to tick off from […]

Social Justice Fashion

If you walked into any high-street store at the moment, you would be met by an abundance of graphic tees and jumpers proclaiming that ‘The Future is Female’. Feminist fashion is hot right now, and almost every brand is capitalising on it. On the surface, this looks positive; in a social environment where the #MeToo […]

Going Off The Grid

Going off the grid has become almost something of a trend over the recent year or so. Disconnecting from our social media platforms seems desirable in a social climate that can be daunting and overwhelming at the best of times. The likes of Twitter and Facebook constantly overstimulates us to the point of having truly […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
